Most ideas don’t need to be acted on. I learned this the dumb way. I use OneNote but I’m bad at referring back to it. I always have ideas. The crazy thing was how many more ideas I’ve had since I left my corporate job. There was no room for ideas there. Just follow rules and don’t be creative. So sometimes my ideas overwhelm me but it’s a sign I’m actually where I should be.
My husband still works in IT and I go off on some of the stuff they say to him. Corporate is a joke. It's like ok, you get paid well, but you sell your entire soul to be there. Like they have been asking him to work 60 hour weeks and his boss knows my husband is fed up with it and so he told him to go get a hotel on the company dime so we could go out and relax and have family time. I said what would be the fucking point? They'd just call you when we were out and then I'd get mad. Just stupid hypocritical crap like that. "We believe in work/life balance" yeah, ok! If you say so. Like corporate "greenwashing" where they pretend to care about the environment to appease stakeholders, but you can't even find a recycling bin in the office (true story when I worked there!)
Organization is one of the byproducts of being a “systems“ person.
It has many benefits but it also, as you perfectly mentioned, has it drawbacks.
I like this idea because it will allow your ideas to “marinate“ a bit before you quickly put them in the file cabinet, close the file cabinet and lock it.
If you don’t use it for a couple of weeks, put it in the cabinet but by keeping it out a bit, I can see it being more top of mine and the odds of it being used or greater
