Only a writer with the highest levels of intelligence could write an article with such probing depth. Reading details of some of USA's government and political historical events felt like slowing down to look at the car crash in the opposite lanes of the freeway. At the same time thinking "I shouldn't look but I can't help it." Brilliant writing, Joe. And thanks for mentioning my Overlooked Puddles.

The ruling 1% needs division because we’re the 99%. By splitting the larger percentage, they can manage the fallout from things the 99% would oppose if they stayed united. Constant reinforcement of individual credentials over the bigger picture further divides the population, focusing them on trivial matters.
