As an author that is feeling duped by Amazon and Substack, I would like to pick your brain about this topic. I have forento not gumroad so I’m considering selling through that because I only pay stripe a small fee. I’m tired of Substack taking 10%!
I'm not familiar with Forento, but it looks like a solid platform. I understand the desire to steer clear of those 10% fees, but also keep in mind that a monthly fee is essentially the same thing, but the company gets that money whether you make any or not.
Ultimately, it really boils down to what do you like best, which drives the most profit/traffic, and what do you think fits your business/brand.
I bought forento on an app sumo deal so I'm not paying anything for it. Which is great. But I did have to pay upfront I suppose. It's really about getting people to visit the link to buy - that's the hard part. Even on Substack which like users to think they are getting a great deal when they take 10% of their money. Kind of BS if you ask me. But I suppose all these platforms do it.
Well, Substack only takes 10% of the money you make from paid subscriptions, so if you're using it to share links to your store products, they don't get any of that.
I am looking to get into selling How to advice and found this post inspiring.
Just keep it simple. Focus on one problem, one person, one solution. The rest is easy peasy.
Simple yet great advice. Thanks.
