I personally don't understand why they sound better to me, but vinyl just has a richer feel to the sound.

Nice post. Thank you!

Having been old enough to work professionally in consumer electronics when CD's started becoming popular. Lot's of complaints that CD audio sounded wrong, and stories that the studios had to add noise to the recording to make it sound more natural. I still prefer vinyl.

Liminal space has a vibe all its own, and my perspective on it is something I should write more about.

God,

I relate to this one JD - living 150km's from the nearest City.

Driving all hours, and the weird things that can do to your sense of time & state of mind.

And you always manage to make the edgy stuff funny!

Love it:)

Fantastic.

My husband is a retired semi driver and when we first met, many years ago, I went out on the road with him a few times... enough to get every word of your driving essay. He's also an incredibly talented writer. While we were dating, rather than flowers and candy, he courted me with short stories, mostly sci fi, that took place in these spaces you described, but in his case on I-80 east of Reno to Colorado. (The stories worked... obviously lol.)

I'll have to print this for him to read since he's (wisely and sometimes I'm jealous) not on social.

And loved the liminal space piece too. My favorite exploration of liminal space is Stephen King's "The Langoliers."

Langoliers is a great piece by King.

Spent a good part of my time in the military in big fuel trucks driving all over the damn place.

I spent a lot of time after the military traveling to military bases all over the US to do inspections. Lot different than a truck, I’m sure, but also sort of the same.

Cool story. It had a Marlowe attitude with the filter of today. If Philip Marlowe was around today he'd probably write like that.

One of the reasons I named myself RoboPulp is because I don't like things that are too perfect. I like to see human flaws that become a stamp if individuality. Also it's not very difficult to capture pristine HD photos in auto mode. The unexpected accidents of film are something tusy add atmosphere and character to photos. And music. And movies.
