Close The Two Weeks, Then Kill One Thing

The Smallest Thing You Can Sell — Most reviews end the same way: the big unfinished thing is the dead weight. Here’s the case for selling its one-page version instead, and how to find that page. Read it before you decide what to cut.

The Two-Week Review

Two weeks of work, on one page. Then you cut the deadest line on it.

Thirty minutes, five steps. List what shipped, pull what sold, mark what’s dead, kill one thing, name next round’s bet. You walk away lighter than you sat down. Here’s the drill.

1 // List everything you shipped in 14 days

Open a blank note. List every thing that left your hands in the last two weeks: products, pages, posts, emails, a fix that went live. Plans don’t count. Only what shipped. A short list is intel, so write it down and keep moving. Five things out the door beat twenty tabs still open.

2 // Pull the money next to it

Gumroad, then Sales. Set the date range to the last 14 days and read the total plus the per-product breakdown. Add affiliate payouts and any other income from that same window. Next to the line that earned it, write the one number that moved most, up or down. Match effort to dollars, line by line, until every shipped item has a figure or a zero.

3 // Mark each item alive, flat, or dead

Go down the list and tag every line three ways: ALIVE made money or pulled real replies, FLAT shipped but nobody moved, DEAD you’ve carried it for weeks and it has never paid. Don’t flinch on dead. That thing you keep meaning to finish, the one you skipped past just now, tag it DEAD and move on.

4 // Kill one thing today

Pick one DEAD item and end it before you close the note. Unpublish the product. Archive the draft, cancel the tool, delete the half-built page. Name out loud what it was bleeding you in hours or dollars every week it stayed. One kill per fortnight is the rule. Skip it and the dead weight stacks until you can’t read your own board.

5 // Set next fortnight’s one bet

Read your ALIVE lines and pick the single one to push for the next two weeks. Write one sentence: what you’ll ship and the date it’s due. Everything else holds where it is. One barrel, one target. You’re not spraying the whole list and praying something lands.

Clean close, the standard: one thing cut, exactly one bet named. Killed nothing? You flinched. Go back to your DEAD tags and cut.

Review today. Cut today. Aim Monday.

What did you kill this round? Hit reply and tell me the one thing you cut. I read every one. ~ J.D.
