Accidentally Created a Fictional Indie Rock Band.

I was reading the delightful Permission to Weird by and she had taken a poem she wrote and turned it into a song using AI.

A bit skeptical of what AI could produce, I hit play on her shared song… and was rather amazed at the results.

It was a good song, her lyrics made it better, and the piece was arranged very well.

That got me to thinking, as one does.

Like most kids in the 1990s, my friends and I wanted to be in a band. The kind that made it on MTV, not marching in parades playing trombones.

Trouble was, like most kids, we had the dedication of an under-performing sloth and, honestly, not a lot of talent in that area.

But I wrote tons of lyrics…

In short, I created a fictional band yesterday based on one of our unused band name ideas.

I took my lyrics, figured out the style and sound I wanted, started plugging them in, and when I was done, I had an album. I will say AI did put in some extra stuff I didn’t expect but turned out quite good.

I know some out there are gonna be like, “Yeah, but it’s AI.”

Yeah, but fuck you. This has been something I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid and technology allowed me to do it.

Anyway, I want to introduce you to my fictional band, Amanda’s Dead Mother.

This is there album cover from their debut EP. It’s about growing up in a small Southern town and being weirder than everyone else.
